i ekspresji.

w obszarze sztuk muzycznych i plastycznych.

The relationship between the visual arts and music has fascinated artists for centuries, but it was the 20th century that proved to be a particularly groundbreaking era. A special place in this history belongs to Wassily Kandinsky, who in his artistic practice and theoretical writings revealed a profound connection between color, form, and sound. In his seminal work *Concerning the Spiritual in Art*, we can read, among other statements: “Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the hammers, the soul is the piano with many strings.” Kandinsky not only compared painting to music but treated color as an autonomous means of expression.

Another artist who explored the synthesis of the arts was Paul Klee. Also a musician, he spoke of “drawing music” and composed his paintings like musical scores. Central to his approach was the idea of rhythm—organizing pictorial space much like meter organizes a musical composition.

Contemporary art continues these explorations, and Maria Michoń finds her place within this tradition. For her, music is not merely a thematic inspiration but also a working method—a source of gesture, tempo, and expression. Her paintings attempt to capture the ephemerality of sound, its spiritual resonance. They affect the viewer beyond words, beyond narrative, directly and emotionally. They exemplify artistic synesthesia—a phenomenon in which the boundaries between the senses are crossed, so that seeing becomes hearing, and hearing becomes seeing. This is Maria’s goal, which she consistently pursues. This exhibition is part of that playful, creative process she has been engaged in for years, within the realms of musical and visual arts.
