“Silent Geometry”
“Silent Geometry”
Manuel Felguérez (1928–2020) belonged to a generation of rebels. As a key figure of the Mexican Generación de la Ruptura (Breakaway Generation), he courageously moved away from the dominant social realist muralism, opening the door to abstraction, freedom of form, and the autonomous language of art.
The six lithographs presented in this exhibition are the essence of his mature work. In his stark yet lyrical geometry – lines, planes, and contrasts – we discover a silent order: a cosmic harmony that Felguérez built throughout his life without the need for loud narratives or illustrative gestures. His compositions do not shout; they resonate quietly, inviting contemplation.
Lithography, a medium demanding discipline and precision, perfectly captures this silence. Each line is deliberate, each empty space speaks. These works are not only objects of aesthetic contemplation but also meditations on balance, tension, and the quiet truth hidden within abstraction.
Cicha Geometria
Manuel Felguérez (1928–2020) należał do pokolenia buntowników.
Litografia, medium wymagające dyscypliny i precyzji, doskonale oddaje tę ciszę.

Manuel Felguérez (1928–2020) was a pioneering Mexican abstract artist and a key figure of the Generación de la Ruptura, which rejected the dominant muralist school of Rivera and Orozco. After early travels in Europe, he trained in France, specializing in abstract art when it was not accepted in Mexico. His diverse career spanned painting, sculpture, and teaching. He is renowned for his sculpted murals—often made from scrap metal, stones, and sand—and for pioneering digital art as a researcher at Harvard and UNAM. Despite initial resistance, Felguérez became a celebrated modernist, exhibiting worldwide and creating major public works until his late eighties.
