„Czarodziejskie Miasto”
“Czarodziejskie Miasto” / “The Magic City” is an artistic project at the intersection of literature and visual art, dedicated to the life and work of Aurelia Wyleżyńska (1881–3 August 1944). It was inspired by her novel of the same title, published in Warsaw in 1928.
In Gabriele Rothweiler’s photographs, Wyleżyńska’s world comes to life through the language of contemporary art. The exhibition is an artistic journey in the writer’s footsteps, exploring her sensibility, her way of seeing the world, and her magic city—Paris.

Gabriele Rothweiler – niemiecka artystka i fotografka urodzona w Karlsruhe. Od 1992 roku działa niezależnie, współtworząc autorskie przestrzenie wystawiennicze i inicjatywy artystyczne (m.in.
Gabriele Rothweiler – German artist and photographer born in Karlsruhe. She received her photographic education in Munich and Salzburg (where she studied under Michael Schmidt and Rivka Rinn). She has been working independently since 1992, co-founding artist-run exhibition spaces and art initiatives (including Arthaus in Munich and Diessen). Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany, Austria, Romania, the USA, and Italy (including the Venice Biennale at Palazzo Bembo, 2022).
In her practice, she combines fine art photography with a painterly approach, creating multi-layered compositions. Her current visual inquiry is based on the concept of the photographic palimpsest – layering architectural structures, light, and traces of human presence.
