“Endurlings. The End of the City”

The city has shed its skin, leaving only a hollow husk behind. Outwardly, little has changed – most buildings still stand, but no pulsing life stirs within. The abandoned objects, surrounded by all-encompassing emptiness, whisper faint stories. One must listen closely to hear them.

The Endurlings were made by someone’s hands – interwoven cables and gears… These objects seem to share a certain bond. Perhaps they had no common function, but they survived the same ending. They communicate with each other in a language known only to them. We’re not meant to understand – we can only guess, without clues, what they are. We know only their endurance. Among them, it is we who are the outcasts.

There is no use asking “why?” anymore. All that remains is to observe what the “after” looks like

Miasto zrzuciło swą skórę, by zostawić po sobie jedynie pusty ochłap. Zewnętrze niewiele się zmieniło – budynki w większości wciąż stoją, ale nie drzemie w ich wnętrzach żadne pulsujące życie. Pozostawione przedmioty, wśród wszechogarniającej pustki, szepcą ciche historie. Trzeba dobrze nastawiać uszu, by usłyszeć ich treść.

Trwałostki zostały stworzone przez czyjeś ręce – splecione kable i zębatki… Obiekty te wydają się mieć ze sobą pewną więź. Być może nie miały wspólnej funkcji, ale wspólnie przetrwały ten sam koniec. Komunikują się ze sobą swym własnym, im jedynie znanym językiem. Nam jednak nie jest dane go poznać – możemy jedynie zgadywać, bez tropów, czym właściwie są. Znamy jedynie ich trwałość. Wśród nich to my jesteśmy odrzutkami.

Nie ma już sensu pytać „po co?”. Pozostaje przyglądać się, jak wygląda „po”.
