Poszczególne prace tworzą opowieść o trwaniu, zawieszoną pomiędzy ruchem a bezruchem, ciszą i napięciem.
The guiding idea behind the series of paintings presented in the exhibition is the motif of tension – a state suspended between silence and inner weight. The point of departure was landscape, understood not as a specific view, but as a space in which tension can take on material form. A recurring motif in the works is stone, as a symbol of endurance, silent presence, and weight. Tension appears here both as a physical property of matter and as a psychological state connected with anxiety, fear, and anticipation.
In the works on display, landscape becomes a space built through colour, material, and the relationships between forms. The surfaces of the paintings retain traces of the painterly process, and the compositions are based on balance rather than contrast. More important than the subject itself is the way in which the painting exists – its weight, rhythm, and presence. The individual works create a narrative about duration, suspended between movement and stillness, silence and tension.
Damian Wawrzusiszyn – (b. 2000) Graduate of the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Zamość. Currently a fifth-year student of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
His current artistic practice is based on observing nature, absorbing its colour and elements, which he then translates into the language of painting. The compositions he creates arise from a need to synthesise reality into forms of signs and metaphors. His paintings present his own interpretation of reality, allowing the viewer to engage in a confrontation with it.
